For many years now we’ve partnered with the public on several of our major research initiatives. Essentially, where it is possible to collaborate, we do. As is common in academic labs and research centers, we also license key elements of our findings and related technologies to companies and other organizations that are able to distribute them for a wider impact.
There’s a synergistic effect in doing this that both make our research stronger, and allow it to benefit thousands of people at the same time. Normally, in the academic psychology and neuroscience world, you conduct experiments on undergraduate and graduate students – often in exchange for class credit or something similar. This produces problems, though, that have these fields in a bit of a crisis at the moment, and that we both want to sidestep and not be a part of.
If you type “psychology replication crisis” into your favorite internet search engine, you’ll see what’s happening. Essentially, many key findings in psychology are not holding up over time. They are not able to be verified by duplicated experiments. We think that one of the reasons for this is because of the heavy reliance on students as research participants.
When we entered the more heavily experimental phase of the research around 2010, we wanted to make sure that we did things differently. By 2014 we’d pioneered a way to conduct parts of our research as online classes that any adult could take anywhere in the world. Working with real people, not students, all around the world as they went through their normal lives because of our research population. It enabled us to know with certainty that the findings we were producing were relevant to “real” people everywhere because that’s who they were being designed, developed, and refined in conjunction with.
At the same time, it solved another key problem that academic labs and centers always struggle with, funding. As you might imagine, the big government funders that academics depend on for large research projects don’t invest in research into Fundamental Wellbeing. In the psychology world, they pretty much invest in aspects of people that are broken, looking for fixes, not in what might make ordinary people flourish. By incorporating an affordable, class based model, and licensing our findings, we’ve brought in millions of dollars to date that has helped to advance the research far beyond what would have been possible otherwise.
In every sense, we think this kind of public/science partnership is the ideal, and sets a model for the future that fixes many of the woes of the past. Our Flagship Experiment/Program that assists you in transitioning to Fundamental Wellbeing
The 45 Days Challenge and Experiment (also called the Next Level Challenge for groups of people who have an issue with words like “awakening”) is our current research-based transition program. It uses our 6-week protocol that transitions 65% of participants to Fundamental Wellbeing, and gives most other participants temporary glimpses of it by the time the program ends. Those who don’t transition are given access to an additional 4-week program that brings to the average overall success rate for each cohort to between 70% and 80%.
If you’re looking to transition to Fundamental Wellbeing and don’t want to spend the time trying to replicate our protocols on your own, this is the program for you. It’s our best working protocol, has been used successfully by thousands of people, and (because it is part of the research) is continually being improved to become even more effective. The class operations are outsourced and licensed to Great Classes, LLC – however, the program is fully staffed and supported by researchers from the Center. Our Flagship Experiment/Program that assists Finders with optimally deepening and integrating Fundamental Wellbeing
Thriving in Fundamental wellbeing is our current research-based program for people who are in Fundamental Wellbeing. It’s useful for any Finder, from beginners to those who have been in Fundamental Wellbeing for decades.
Most Finders feel like they have to re-invent the wheel when it comes to Fundamental Wellbeing. There is very little practical information out there about how it unfolds, how to optimize it, how to best integrate it into your life, and so on. Although this might seem intuitive, it isn’t. The good news is that there is no need to go it alone.
Our work with thousands of Finders from such a wide range of cultural and socio-economic circumstances has provided us with unique insights into what matters most to do in order to both deepen into Fundamental Wellbeing, and integrate it into life. We’ve put the most tested and proven of these into this program, which like all of our research-based programs is continually refined.
